BEC’s main revenue is from the supply of electricity for businesses and homes in
and around the Sanaag region. The electricity is provided through the company’s
own transmission lines and generation capacity. The current power generation
capacity is 782Kw, which is 60% diesel generated and 40% solar energy.
The company also participates in renewable electrification programmes especially
in the low-income settlements and rural areas of the Sanaag region. In fact, the
company has aspiration to gradually increase its renewable energy generation,
storage and distribution capacity, with a goal of 30% diesel and 70% renewable
energy by 2025.
Apart from provision of energy, the company provides the following services and

• Industrial Power Consultancy Services
• Design and Installation Indoor Substation Protection Systems.
• Design and Construction of 11KV and 33KV Metering Substations.
• Earthling of indoor substations and equipment
• Design of High Voltage Distribution & Transmission Power Lines: The design consultancy is usually done as per the customer’s requirement incorporating all the
technical aspects
• Design & Construction to do with all associated High Voltage Power Sub-stations.
• Electrical Wiring Contracts: BEC’s study depicts this as the worst hit area. There is
lack of standardization, hence service providers have become their own assessors
thereby compromising on quality and safety.
• BEC also offers a portfolio of photovoltaic systems, which include solar ACs, antiglare solar, smart, cell optimizer, anti-salt, MPPT, PID free modules, and solar cold
